Key Responsibilities:
Port Operations
Shadow and assist Port Duty Officer with:
Schedule & control vessel traffic
Generate dock receipts for invoicing purposes
Communicate with tenants regarding berth needs
Enforce & track laydown areas for cargo storage / invoicing
Scheduling line handlers
Overall landside traffic safety
Tariff enforcement / yearly update
Port operation as it relates to tenant flow of cargo
Master plan / Infrastructure develop input as it relates to tenant operation
Assist with capital improvement and renewal and replacement projects
Working in a sequence and predictable path toward a goal
A basic understanding of jobsite safety is helpful
Description:
The Port Operations Department at the Port of Palm Beach is responsible for the safe, efficient, and secure day-to-day functioning of port activities. This includes coordinating vessel arrivals and departures, managing cargo handling operations, and ensuring compliance with safety, security, and environmental regulations.
The department works closely with terminal operators, shipping lines, and government agencies to maintain smooth operations, minimize delays, and support the continuous flow of commerce through the port.
Any Other Requirements: College students or graduating high school seniors who are enrolled in a college, university, or trade school for the Summer and/or Fall Semesters.
