Legal Intern
Open to High School Students - 2 positions available
(Location: 3300 Forest Hill Blvd)

Job Description:

Qualifications:

1.  Junior or Senior Classification.
2. Current student enrolled in a Pre-Law or Criminal Justice Program.
3.  Ability to do preliminary/basic legal research.
4. Ability to draft summaries and/or reports based upon legally researched information using correct grammar, punctuation and clarity.
5.  Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to deal professionally with the public.

Additional Job Functions:

1. Follows adopted policies and procedures in accordance with School Board priorities.
2. Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest traditions of public education and in support of the District’s Mission Statement.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:

1. Research and write memoranda.
2. Perform clerical duties such as filing and copying, as needed.
3. Assist with preparation of trial notebooks that do not have any confidential information contained therein.
4. Attend client meetings that will not divulge any confidential information therein.
5. Attend depositions.
6. Attend court hearings/trials.
7. Research legislation.
8. Maintain confidentiality of departmental business matters.
