Power, Options and Transmission Trading: investigate inefficiencies in power and gas prices and their underlying fundamentals. The desk is responsible for making markets to our client base. The desk offers products ranging from simple physical sales to highly complex, unit contingent derivative structures.
Oil & Gas Trading: investigate the wholesale Oil and Gas trading efforts. The desk engages in physical and financial transactions including responsibilities over making markets for customers, managing numerous structured transactions, optimizing a large pipeline transportation portfolio and creating its own proprietary trading decisions based on short- and long-term fundamentals.
Structuring: investigate the development, coordination and execution of complex structured power and fuels transactions within the Origination group. This group works closely with customers and front line originators to understand needs and build customized product structures, including preparing economic models, drafting transaction documents, managing risk and coordinating with Trading, Analytics, Legal, Credit, Accounting and Risk Management to price and secure approvals for deals.
Fundamentals: explore the power-focused team that develops long-term pricing forecasts by informing production cost models with in-house assumptions on supply, demand, market constructs and macroeconomic factors. Their insights support decision making for NEER Development, Business Management, PMI Hedging Strategy and other ad hoc business cases across the organization. The fuels-focused group analyzes domestic and global markets for natural gas, Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) and crude oil, focusing on key drivers such as inventory levels, production trends and demand outlooks. Their work informs a comprehensive, forward-looking view of fuel pricing to support strategic decision-making across the Trade Floor.
Wholesale Power & Valuation: explore transactions with load-following, deterministic and block energy products, bundling them with other energy related products such as capacity, ancillaries and renewable energy credits to ultimately meet the needs of residential, commercial, industrial and municipal customers. Each year, the team manages approximately 5,000 MW of load and executes around 100 transactions, totaling 40 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of volume.
Asset Optimization: explore asset hedging and asset optimization strategies for NextEra Energy's merchant portfolio focusing on hedging power and gas swaps, extrinsic capture, heat rate call options and ancillary services.
